The Nursery
The nursery is where the babies come in for hand-rearing. They start of in the brooders where a constant temperature can be maintained. The temperature will vary according to the age and how many babies are in the brooder. All feeds will be given by spoon and again the frequency will depend upon the age of the baby.
Once the babies have developed enough feathers they will move up into the cages. These have been designed and made by myself to specifically cater for the babies. They have a large floor area with many perches placed low down in the cage. I like to use a variety of perches with sandy, pedicure, rope, natural wood, java and mineral. They have a box on the floor of the cage full of various foot toys and a whole variety of hanging toys.
They will spend many hours a day in the main living room being handled by all members of the family.
